Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit original and unpublished manuscripts that have not been published, accepted, or simultaneously submitted elsewhere. All submissions must be relevant to the focus and scope of Kandaga: Journal of Language and Educational Research.

Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be written in English or Indonesian and prepared using Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx). The manuscript should generally contain the following sections:

  1. Title

  2. Abstract (150–250 words)

  3. Keywords (3–5 keywords)

  4. Introduction

  5. Method

  6. Results and Discussion

  7. Conclusion

  8. Acknowledgments (optional)

  9. References

The manuscript should be typed using Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1.5 line spacing, and A4 paper size with standard margins. The recommended length is between 5,000 and 8,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.

Abstract and Keywords

The abstract should clearly state the purpose of the study, methodology, key findings, and conclusions. Authors should provide three to five keywords that accurately represent the content of the manuscript.

Citation and References

Kandaga follows the American Psychological Association (APA) Style, 7th Edition for citations and references. Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.

Book Chapter

Author, A. A. (Year). Chapter title. In E. E. Editor (Ed.), Book title (pp. xx–xx). Publisher.

Authors should ensure that at least 80% of references are from scholarly sources published within the last ten years and, where possible, include DOI information.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively and cited in the text. Authors must ensure that all images, illustrations, and other visual materials are of high quality and free from copyright restrictions.

Ethical Considerations

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original and free from plagiarism. All manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection software before entering the review process. Manuscripts with substantial plagiarism or unethical research practices will be rejected.

Supplementary Files

To enhance the transparency, reproducibility, and impact of research, authors are encouraged to upload supplementary materials, including but not limited to:

  • Research instruments (questionnaires, interview guides, observation sheets);

  • Datasets and research data;

  • Statistical analysis files;

  • Coding schemes and codebooks;

  • Audio or video recordings related to the research;

  • Teaching materials and learning resources;

  • Additional figures, tables, or appendices.

Supplementary files will be made available online alongside the published article whenever appropriate.

Submission and Review Process

All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's online submission system. Submissions will undergo an initial editorial screening followed by a double-blind peer-review process conducted by at least two independent reviewers. Authors may be required to revise their manuscripts based on reviewers' comments before a final publication decision is made.

By submitting a manuscript to Kandaga: Journal of Language and Educational Research, authors agree to comply with the journal's publication ethics, copyright policies, and editorial procedures.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Authors who publish with Kandaga: Journal of Language and Educational Research agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and full publishing rights to their work without restrictions.
  2. Authors grant the journal the right of first publication of the work. The published article is simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits anyone to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, adapt, and reuse the work for any lawful purpose, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and the source of publication.
  3. Authors are permitted to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal’s published version of the work (e.g., posting it to an institutional repository, personal website, or publishing it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal.

No prior permission is required from either the authors or the publisher for the reuse of articles published under the CC BY 4.0 License, provided that proper attribution is given.
