Aims and Scope

Practice and literacy are intrinsically linked: practice devoid of literacy risks being reduced to mere technical proficiency without conceptual depth, while literacy isolated from practice remains abstract theoretical knowledge. VIRAL serves as a dynamic platform for academics, practitioners, and researchers to exchange insights on creative processes and artistic methodologies. Our ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between theory and practice, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the role of art in a contemporary society that is dynamic, adaptive, innovative, and has a real impact in a sustainable manner.

Methodological Frameworks

Methodologically, VIRAL classifies accepted submissions into two main frameworks:

• Prefactum: Centers on art practice through Practice-led and Practice-based Research.
• Postfactum: Emphasizes critical studies, analysis, and art literacy.
